Enhance Patient Access

At Cape Cod Healthcare, we have two new facilities under construction that will enhance patient access to vital services: the Wilkens Ambulatory Medical Complex in Hyannis and the Stoneman Medical Center in Sandwich.

The Wilkens Ambulatory Medical Complex is being built on Attuck’s Lane in Hyannis. When it is complete later this year, it will offer imaging services including MRI, CT, radiology, fluoroscopy, mobile PET (Positron Emission Tomography), mammography and bone density procedures.

The Complex was made possible by a transformational gift of $5 million from Maureen and Frank Wilkens of Osterville and Palm Beach, Florida.

The Breast Care Center, which is now located next to Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, will move to the Wilkens facility and will be known as the Cuda Women’s Health Center. The center was named for benefactors Richard S. Cuda and his wife, the late Ellen “Ellie” B. Cuda. The couple generously donated $2.5 million toward the project in 2009. All breast care services, including digital screening mammography, diagnostic mammography, ultrasound, image-guided biopsies and breast MRI examinations, will be available at the new center.

The Sandwich Health Center on Route 130 is in the process of being renovated and expanded. Going forward, it will be known as the Stoneman Medical Center, in honor of Jim and Thea Stoneman, whose generous $3 million gift helped make the project a reality. 

Currently, the center, which is conveniently located at Exit 2 off the Mid-Cape Highway, offers primary care; imaging services, including MRI and PET CT; lab services and obstetrics and gynecology. When the construction project is finished sometime in 2012, new services will be added to the existing array, including an urgent care facility; specialists such as cardiovascular and orthopedic physicians; and enhanced imaging, including X-ray and ultrasound.
The patient-friendly Stoneman Medical Center will offer one-stop shopping for health care needs and will accommodate walk-in as well as scheduled appointments.
